- SAVE BUTT VERSION 1.20 README
- -------------------------------------------------
- Several changes were added to Save Butt Version 1.20 prior to release
- which did not make it into the printed User's Manual or PDF file for
- the manual. They are outlined below in the section entitled "Changes
- Since the Manual was printed". The Help system is current with the
- release.
-
- CHANGES SINCE THE MANUAL WAS PRINTED:
-
- * The Include tab is now part of the normal view.
- * Add Applications and File Types was added to the Include tab.
- * The ability to delete files from the Save Butt File Locator was
- added.
-
- GENERAL TIPS
-
- **Tracking and Storing Files:
- If a file that you are interested in tracking with Save Butt is not
- being tracked:
- * Check to see that the application and file type for the file are
- listed in the Include tab. If not, use Add Application or Add File
- Type to add them to the list.
-
- If your file is still not being tracked, review your Drive
- Preferences:
- 1. Select the Drive Settings tab.
- 2. Highlight the drive with the checkmark.
- 3. Click the Drive Prefs... button.
- 4. Make sure that the file you want to track does not exceed the
- thresholds set in the Preferences screen. If so, change your
- preferences.
-
- Lastly, check the Exclude tab. Is the file that you are trying to
- track being saved into an Excluded directory? If so, save the file
- into a directory that is not listed in the Exclude tab.
-
- **Tracking Files
-
- If you clear a checkmark for a filetype in the Include tab for one
- application, Save Butt clears that file type for all other
- applications in the Include tab.
-
- **Deleting Folders
-
- If you delete a folder from Explorer, not all of the files may be
- recoverable. The files that will be recoverable are the files
- that have the file types listed in the Include tab.
-
- **File Size
- Save Butt defaults to 1MB as the maximum file size to save. Should
- you want to track larger files, please change the drive preferences
- from the Drive Settings tab.
-
- **Restoring Groups of Files
- Certain applications, like Quicken, when you exit or "Save" create
- a group of files, not just one file. Quicken for example, upon
- exiting, saves files of the type .qdb, .qel, .cfg, .qmd, .qsd, .gid,
- and .qdt. Save Butt does not support group restores. To restore
- your group of files, you will have to restore each of the files
- individually.
-
- **Sorting files
-
- Sorting by columns from the Save Butt File Locator can be done from
- any view in the pull down list except for "I want to see my recently
- changed or deleted files". The recently changed or deleted files
- list is a pre-sorted list based on the date and time of the
- modification or deletion.
-
- **Moving or Renaming Files
-
- Save Butt considers a move or rename of files as deleted files.
-
- KNOWN ISSUES:
-
- **Super Disk or Zip drives
-
- If you have a Zip or SuperDisk drive as either an A: or B: drive,
- Save Butt will not use them as Target Drives.
-
- **Floppy Drives
-
- Save Butt will not use a floppy drive as a Target drive nor will it
- tracks changes or deletions for files on floppy diskettes.
-
- **Rescan
- If any application or file type has been disabled from the Save Butt
- Include tab, upon Rescanning, Save Butt will detect those disabled
- applications and file types as "New" applications and file types.
- A message is displayed stating that X New File types and X New
- Applications have been found.
